MaxQ – Way of the World

2015 is now out of the way. This year was very interesting to me in that once again, the media pummeled us with fear and hatred. I knew that this election season was going to be rough on my sensibilities, but I really had not expected the amount of ignorance I was subjected to. For my outlook on my society, 2015 was not a good year.

This album came out in 1989, and, at the time,  I thought the outlook was impossibly bleak. Looking back, I think Michael Hutchence may have been onto something.

While I supposed that it is human nature to wallow in ignorance, hate, and jealousy, it seems like that is something that we can overcome. I hope that in 2016, we all make the ghastly discovery that this hate and fear are exactly what the media wants from us. I hope that as a whole, we decide to outsmart the man, and join together to let him know that this is no longer acceptable.

I first found this record on KROQ in 1989. It was a solo project by INXS’s Michael Hutchence. While his life ended tragically, he left behind an incredible legacy of great music and an incredible concert experience for those fortunate enough to have seen him perform live.

So, as you go head first into 2016, take some advice from your old uncle Sergio: go easy on your fellow man, go easy on yourself, and let’s let the man know that we understand who the real enemy is.
